Are there any paths from management consulting into HFs?
Currently at a top management consulting firm, focused on strategy and PE work. Until recently, I didn't really consider PE as an exit opportunity.
Are there any direct / indirect (e.g., MBA) paths into a hedge fund?
I've used CPI, Henkel, Amity in the past for PE recruiting, but not sure if there's any others specific for hedge funds.
Lastly, any tips / advice?
Can you model? For hedge funds, its generally better to reach out directly, especially if MMHF. Just know what you're getting yourself into and have actionable pitches (so don't spend 5 slides explaining business quality if you're pitching to Citadel). Good business vs good stock are different.
You might need to do a stint in banking or sellside equity research first depending on HF strategy.
