Comp is below market...
Is below market for pe or for hf? And how is it structured?
Probably both. Base + bonus, no carry. They legitimately do work on interesting things, but some groups are far better than others
How low? Saw some openings there but wondering if its a waste to bother applying.
Much lower than market.. and those posting have been there for a while now and keep getting auto refreshed
Have seen a flurry of applications coming out of Arena as of late to both my shop and to others friends in the industry. Comp is apparently very below market. Didn't ask for specifics but use that as a base case if you're seriously considering something there...
So if you are hypothetically a high potential individual, does it make sense to start there?
Arena can be a step stone to a better place for sure, but it'll take work on your part. I don't think top HF is a realistic base case exit but the world is your oyster. The culture is such that you can take more responsibility / position yourself better within the firm if you are comfortable having sharp elbows and advocating for yourself. It is extremely entrepreneurial. If you go to Dan with a well thought out business plan for a new vertical or product he'll let you own it.

Compensation appears below market (base + bonus). Team is very lean and not by design as I seen a flood of applicants attempting to exit.

Can confirm that comp is now in line with market - as far as salary is concerned.
Don't think base was the issue. Bonuses have generally been shitty afaik
What's latest here? It looks like there was basically a coup
Seems that way but don't understand why? They seemed to be doing fine from the outside
I mean, the results speak for themselves. ($8mn) EBITDA for an asset manager with allegedly $4bn AUM is so laughably horrible I can't even imaging how I'd accomplish that myself.
