Best Path to Enter Energy Trading HF?

How does one enter the Energy Trading industry working with a Hedge Fund.

What is the best route in terms of learning / getting into a trading seat. From Ground Zero.

I’m in my late 20s and have been in the CRE industry as a Broker for around 5-years. Initially worked in IB but on the healthcare end which was miserable and slow. So I left and entered CRE because the opportunity was there. It’s been grueling 2 years due to market and I’ve wanted to make the jump into Energy Trading for sometime and now seriously considering it.

Any input here would be very much appreciated.

Hey,

Switching to Energy Trading is definitely possible with your background. Start by building your knowledge in energy markets—consider taking some courses in energy trading and commodities.

Networking is key too. Connect with industry professionals, go to events, and find a mentor if possible. You might need to start in a junior role or research position to break in, but you can move up from there.

It’s a big change, but with the right approach, you can make it happen. PM me if you want more support or advice. Good luck!

If this is for physical trading, happy to connect as I’m interested as well but have connected with some people that have gave some broader insight to break in Houston or NYC.
