Best schools below tier 1/2 for hedgefund recruiting

I am a senior in high school looking to do QR hopefully at a prop shop(dream is Jane Street but I'm no genius unfortunately) and was wondering which schools in the US have strong recruiting seasons that aren't Tier 1/2 hyp/mit/etc.

Currently, I am debating between EDing to NYU Stern or applying RD to the Trinity College/Columbia GS double program(first 2 years at Trinity and second 2 at Columbia GS), but I don't know if either of these are the "right" choice. At Stern I would major in Business with a concentration in Math/Stats and add a double major at CAS in comp. sci OR major in Business with a concentration in Computer/Computing Analytics and add a double major at CAS in math(also would like to know which one is better for QR). At the Trinity College/Columbia GS program I would major in Mathematics at Trinity and Mathematics-Computer Science at GS. I am pretty sure these are the right majors to look for for QR but please let me know!!

My academics are not the greatest(I tanked my GPA 1st semester freshman year oops) but I have a high score on the ACT and will finish high school with 15 AP tests(3 soph year, 7 junior year, 5 senior year) including Calc AB, Calc BC, Stats, CS P, and CS A. that I've done pretty well on (4s and 5s).

I have 0 attachment to location, college experience, cost, or anything like that, all I care about is getting to a college that is best situated for recruiting and networking, and I'm unsure which school would provide that since I will miss soph. recruiting in Ireland at the Columbia program but maybe that doesn't matter? Please help me. If there are other schools that I should be aware of please also let me know!

Another thing that I am concerned about regarding NYU though is they don't seem to have a lot of grade inflation(I'm not sure if that's true at Stern please confirm if you know) and I'm honestly not super confident in my abilities and would probably prefer someone where with some inflation since they cut below a certain GPA off before the resume hits the table.

Please let me know, thank you for your time!

(edit: for all the people who think i should get laid and relax my bf is long distance...im doing my best ok...this a really stressful time in my life *cries*)

Hello!

Your comment is very funny and it made my day. I am 16 years old haha not really trying to get laid. My boyfriend is long distance at Cornell though so that's rough. I live in Oregon. I touched grass in the summer. Now, I am in school, I have college apps due in less than 4 months, and I spend 10+ hours a week at robotics and 30+ at volunteering or working. I do not touch grass very frequently.

I saw you are a Research Analyst at a HF! That's so cool wow. Could you please provide some insight on how you got to where you are? I feel like I am not "in the know" and I would love to at least partially be "in the know". Like anything you would have done differently, if there is anything at all?

Thank you!

I mean what are your credentials in math? Have you done anything beyond APs. Jane street is not really possible besides olympiad maybe slightly below level math. Somewhat lower quants are but even then you have to be cracked. Typical HF is a different ball game but as long as one of your majors includes Math or CS then it should be fine. I'm not sure if spending 2 years in Ireland is the best idea so between these I'd do Stern. That said if you are a really technical person interested in Quant then places Georgia Tech, CMU, UIUC-CS are good options. That said for typical HFs places like Stern would be better.

college confidential is for bums. you've not been very helpful but at least you saw my post and commented and prolly gave me more exposure(idk tho i have no idea how this place works) you would not be on college confidential reading posts and commenting...i think

Its funny that I came across this post because I was exactly this cringe when I was in high school. Its funny to look back. I hope you have a similar experience a few years down the line when you've lost a bit of the tism

ok i'd just like some advice on "finance" in general. jane street is very obviously a fever dream but i gotta aim high. there are not really people that have connections to wall street where i live and i have read many posts of people offering advice to seniors confused about where to apply for college(mostly ib though oops that may be the issue) so i thought i would ask about my college conflict and talk abt my career goals so people know about the kind of job i am hoping to get post-grad(or masters/phd). i am very stressed and aware that not many people that want to break into finance actually break break into finance, espcially hf and stuff. please?

The issue is that Jane street isn’t a hedge fund, and you want a quant career.

There is 0 overlap in advice for someone that wants to be a quant vs someone that wants to work as an equity research analyst at a hedge fund or a macro pm at a hedge fund etc.

people will help, but you need to do some targeted research and come back with specific questions.

Wants to know what schools are good for HF recruiting >>> is interested in Jane Street.

Worry about knowing what a HF is and what type of company you want to work at actually is before you start thinking about schools.
