Boston SMs?
Anyone know what the senior analyst experience has been like for those Boston guys (ex. Atreides, Baupost, Abrams, Finepoint, Shawspring ,etc.)

are these guys doing short as well?Somehow had the feeling Boston guys are more moderate, prefers long term investing than L/S but it is just my perception, would be great if anyone can confirm?
afaik, the value-biased shops in boston are averse to shorting
Thanks, but why is that? Lack of predecessors that's great at shorting so they didn't form a L/S circle like the ones in NY did?
Generically? Bad. Look at the turnover
people moving to nyc?
Are you interviewing at one of these shops?
lol nope, i just never hear them mentioned in SM discussions.
How were Atreides returns this past year?
Not sure on the whole but they were long a bunch of AI capex names so probably good; word is they bought a ton of ALAB in September which turned into a three bagger by year end
That said they've been big AMD bulls for a while which I'm sure did not help their 2024 performance
Abrams / MFN likely have had a couple pretty good years in a row I'd think based on their largest longs XPO, Loar, RXO. Abrams is up to like $10bn on like 6 or 7 analysts with low turnover and MFN is north of $5bn with a similar number of analysts so run pretty lean.
Anyone know much about Adage Capital in Boston? I feel like it’s never really mentioned here, especially for how well it has done
