CastleKnight Management
Anyone have any insight on CastleKnight Management? I am interviewing with them later this week and can't find much on them. Any insight would be great!

Appaloosa pony. Weitman is Tepper's nephew or something like that (read somewhere they're quite close) and Tepper seeded the fund. Did well in 2020 afaik. Looks like they essentially mimic Appaloosa without the macro element, but not sure. Looks like a pretty cool opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something with amazing backing. Did they approach you via an HH?
didn't Tepper give a $55m gift to CMU and the name of their b-school changed. May be one of the big reasons why his nephew (Weitman) got into Carnegie Mellon.
Weitman graduated in '04 when Tepper made the gift. Also he made partner really quickly at Appaloosa - I guess part of that you can ascribe to nepotism, although with what performance the fund had during those years and the calibre of the people in the team, I find it hard to believe Tepper would've kept someone on the roster (let alone promote them) if they didn't do very well. Then again, I'm writing this from a keyboard in an office instead of working, not from my phone while having drinks with the man himself so what do I know lol
No, just heard about the role through some connections.
Any insight on the culture at a fund like that? Especially considering its basically a start-up as they launched late 2020 and looking to grow. Do they expect analysts to work IB hours or is it more market hours? Any insight would be helpful.

I feel like I've seen several postings from them on Bloomberg's career center (JOBS). Are they hiring aggressively?
Think they are looking to add 1-2 analysts
I know some folks there. Judging by the people I know, culture should be quite collegial. They wouldn't stick around if it was a pressure cooker.
Okay, thank you. Really appreciate it
Any insight on what hours are like?
Asked a buddy of mine who interviewed w. them.
CIO (Weitman) is known to be very smart but on the spectrum.
Team stays green-dot'ed on IB from 9am to 10pm.
He said they were really intense in the interview, but he didn't make it past the first round so not sure if that's a total reflection.
"Team stays green-dot'ed on IB from 9am to 10pm." what's this mean?
They are on the Bloomberg terminal from 9am-10pm. IB (instant Bloomberg) is the terminal's instant messaging function which displays a dot next to the person's name to indicate status (green = online, red = offline, grey = unknown).
he's not he spectrum?
.
What have you heard?
.
Other than the really stupid name? No.
Anyone know anything about the #2 there, Dustin? Have heard a lot of folks I know who took convos with them were turned off by that guy. How is their performance this year? Know they were leaking 20-21 returns for media coverage (which were good fwiw) but all the sudden you stop hearing about it. Usually not a good sign
Why were they turned off by that guy? Just a weird person or process was off??
