Citadel - Case Study

One of two in the case study stage where I went first vs. the other candidate. Case went ok - interviewers were decently complimentary but there are spots where I could've articulated better.

Citadel HR told recruiter after that it was "good but team was not blown away, so will wait to see the other candidate" but asked for comps / walkaway economics regardless from my current seat.

Am I effectively now on hold / backup?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that you are likely in a "wait-and-see" position. The feedback from Citadel HR indicates that while your performance was solid, it did not stand out enough to secure an immediate offer. By asking for comps and walkaway economics, they are keeping you in consideration but are likely prioritizing the evaluation of the other candidate before making a final decision.

This situation suggests you are effectively on hold or serving as a backup option, depending on how the other candidate performs. It’s not a definitive rejection, but it does mean you may need to wait for their decision.
