Coatue Titles??
Can anyone explain the titles at Coatue? I currently raise Inst. capital for a growth equity firm and looking at an opportunity with Coatue but don’t understand how their titling works, which makes negotiating harder.

Career Resources
Know a bunch of people that do/have worked there, mostly on privates. There's an investment committee on the private side where GPs are the decision makers. For publics I was under the impression that there's Sector Heads that are like sub-PMs to Phillippe, Open to corrections here.
Private
Managing Directors/Head of = Run all investments in a certain stage, they have a head of Venture and head of Growth
General Partners = Partner, buy into the GP pool and have a large portion of economics
VP = Principal, run deals on their own and support a GP
Partner/Investor = Associate, support GPs and VPs, I believe they still have carry
Public
Philippe = CIO
Sector Heads = PMs that run sector focused books, I think there are 4
Investor/Analyst/Partner = analysts rolling up to PMs
This is incredibly helpful, thank you! Did/ do they enjoy working there?
I don't think it's a "fun" place to work, but I don't know any high performing fund that is. If you perform well you get paid to stay, if you don't you're out. The people there are very sharp, and Philippe will put heavily invest into ideas that are working, but you'll quickly feel the pressure if you're not keeping up.
Most people I know were/are there for 2yr or 5+. Publics churns people faster than privates but there's been a lot of attrition on the private side as people launched their own funds.
Partner is below VP and really just an associate?
From my understanding, yes. Take a look at how many VPs there are vs. Partners.
amazing. so the kid flexing his partner title as if he were the next ken griffin is really not a wunderkind
