Is this for the fundamental research role? Currently in the process as well - If they like your case you get moved on to a 2 hour interview. First hour with an analyst, pure behavioral/situational/pretty in-depth resume review for me. Second hour with a VP going over the case. Shouldn't be too technical, but could depend on which prompt you picked for the case. Feel free to pm me as well

Also in the process currently, I'm more interested to understand the rate in which return offers are being given out at D.E. Shaw. I read a couple of threads that mentioned return rates are around the 20% ballpark range, just wanted to check if that still holds true
This is true from what I heard except in 2023, when return offer rate was around 50%
Which group is this for? I'm hearing lower than 20% for the class of 2023
The case is retarded lol I didn’t even bother doing it - not worth the low return rate. DE Shaw is a great place to be a quant but avoid if you’re fundamental

I would say that they move pretty fast if they want to move forward with you in the process. I got moved on to the next stage within hours of each interview stage

anyone have/had an interview with their treasury intern team?
Dont take an offer from DESCO for the fundamental role. They rarely take any summer analysts on for FT, even fewer than BX. Most kids end up getting fucked over for FT recruiting, know of some that had to reclass or take a job in corpdev
What do you mean by fundamental? My current offer is for Prop Trading, which is a quantish role.
Have you heard bad things about it? Also, how hard would it be to do FT recruiting with that kind of internship?

Serious question, is it even worth applying as a non-target? A buddy from college applied had BB IB + HF experience but didn't even get round one? Well, I'll apply I see I suppose.

usually a few hrs afterward they would send a case study (haven’t heard of anyone who did 1st round but didn’t get case study)

Probably. Person who got ab offer for fundamental said he got one after a day. I also was ghosted like 2 months ago
