Derivatives Financing/Structuring in IB to Vol Trading at HF
Received an offer for a structured financing seat specifically for equity derivatives at GS/MS. This falls within the capital markets side of IB. My original goal was to get a trading seat, but didn't work out. How hard would it be to recruit for options trading roles at HFs from this seat? Tbh I find traditional IB painfully boring, and would like to make this move ASAP. Would I need to switch over to sell-side trading first, or could I make the jump directly from financing? Should I continue looking for S&T internships instead? For context, I study econ with concentrations in math and ML at a T5 school.
