EVR/Moelis IB vs LO AM
Goal is to end up in L/S as I like the high pressure, stress envt of the job. Which path is better for that? Boutique IB or going to a LO AM (D&C, Wellington, Cap Group)?

Career Resources
Do you have either or are we dreaming here?
Have an offer at a top LO AM for soph summer, which will likely be converted to junior summer then FT - so was wondering.
Ah I see what you mean, you're class of 26 considering whether or not to recruit for banking for your third summer. Congrats on landing a LO for sophomore, how'd you go about it?
If you want high pressure, join the Navy SEAL
bruh
Lol… I have 10-20 buddies at various hedge funds and nobody would describe stress and high pressure as positives of their job.

LO. Know plenty of young analysts who’ve gone from LO to HF. And LO for career is pretty freaking sweet so that too.
I would do LO AM if you are 100% set on public equity investing
You objectively have no clue wtf high pressure or a stressful environment in a job is like, especially given you haven't even started your sophomore summer internship, so do yourself a favor and stop trying to sound impressive by highlighting that as the reason you're drawn to HF. It just makes you sound like a tool and will immediately put off most people you meet who actually work the job.
These are internships, would say you're probably better off doing your LO internship this summer then trying out IB for junior summer and weighing which job you personally feel is a better fit. There are plenty of L/S that want to see 2+2 IB/PE and others that would happily recruit from the ASO programs at top LOs, so you should figure out where you will perform better and pick based on that. If you really enjoy your time at the LO this summer, stick with that. Hard to go wrong and it's a great spot to stay at if you decide that HF isn't for you down the line.
Had a look at LI stats for a friend weighing a grad offer at a Tier 1 LO on this, TL;DR: LO AM if you want to stay in AM but even then you need to be confident in internal promotion, for HF and overall optionality you're probably better off with IB
Here's where the Cap Group RAs who left (first n = 20) went after leaving i.e. 'exit opps' if you will:
Not saying that these programmes aren't great if you want to stay in the shop LT but you need to be clear on whether they'll promote you to a PM-track seat, if they don't hire Analysts from the RA programme doesn't seem like the best place to start a career contrary to common advice on this forum
But please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe using wrong filters?
Any ideas what happened to the CAP associates at capital? It seems like this is the better position between the two as they promote (some people) to analysts.
Of n=15 that have completed the 3 years: 40% promoted, 40% moved to non-investment roles or out of industry, 20% MBA/JD
Small sample relative to the # that are currently in the programme though, should get a clearer idea over the coming years
This forum has become a joke
The people who wrote very insightful stuff 10 years ago have all left now too
