Help stock pitching

hey guys! current incoming junior and i have a few interviews/targeting interviews at l/o funds (all value orientated and differentiated view) coming up.

i want to fundamentally learn stock pitching like being able to build a differentiated thesis compared to street. i have had some progress in this by picking 1/2 things that drive share price and build a view on those through research. HOWEVER, this typically works when i am given the stock. the part that i find myself struggling with is screening stocks/finding companies to build stock pitches on/these differentiated theses. i would love some advice on how to 1) screen for companies/stocks to build pitches on and 2) how to go about building differentiated theses.

i know some interviews wont be in depth as others but i want to fundamentally understand how to build a pitch from start to end and be able to back up all my points. some advice i have gotten is to go on twitter and read different stock debates but twitter genuinely has so much noise and unhelpful content it hasnt worked for me.

would appreciate any help. thank you!!

There are threads about this on here already, have a look at the some of the HF forum posts.

I’d also just say you don’t need to screen stocks, just pick one and get to understanding the key debates.

hey. appreciate the reply. i guess i was just wondering whats a good place to find these debates on stocks. any guidance at all in that direction would be really helpful just so i can get started

Youl figure this out really quickly if you look under the hood. Figure out what management has said on calls, what questions analysts have asked, stocks reaction to certain news/prints and youl know exactly what the debates are.
