How do you date / socialize as a HF pod shop analyst?

Received a TMT pod analyst opportunity at a multi-manager (negotiating sign-on bonus right now). Just wondering how are people able to date and meet new people? My hours on the sell side have been approx 8 AM - 7 PM on normal days, going to midnight on earnings nights, Sundays were mostly untouched, except previews and initiation reports. It was already tough to socialize / date with those hours. How are pod shop analysts able to do it?

Been at a pod for 3 years (1 training out of school). Been with my girlfriend from college (now my fiance)…it’s been extremely tough. I work 6 days a week and this job demands everything else revolves around it, never really feel like I’m entirely present.

As a junior it’s very intense, you’re making your own money so there is often an uneasy feeling of wanting to do more work to stay on top of your income, whilst being expected to learn the trade in an ever increasingly competitive environment.

If you want to prioritise having a social life, don’t do this. Market is your first wife in this life…

Heard there are some pretty cute brokers.

+1SB, great analysis. also sneaky rosanne barr diss. unfortunately also +1MS because you need to touch grass. overall, great comment

I've personally never had any issues getting action. Quite the opposite, I'd say it's trivial in NYC, even as a HF analyst.

The dating pool is extremely deep here, aka there is an endless supply of pretty and smart enough girls. You never run out of profiles on the dating apps.

Women in NYC tend to have their own careers and ambitions, so they don't mind if the dates during the week only start at 9pm. And weekends I refuse to work and have more time.

But I think this is unique to NYC. I also lived in other major U.S. cities, and it was terrible.
