how small to start if starting small?

Someone offered me a position to manage a $10M sleeve of a fund on my own. How do I decide if this is a good role considered over the long term? If I did well, what are the odds I get to manage more the following year? Is this too small of a book to even matter? What kind of economics would make sense? Fwiw, I expect to make $500K next year in my current role if I do not leave.

not experienced enough to give advice that you should follow but this it what I thought when I read your post: - do you have savings to cover expenses if it goes poorly and comp is performance driven - is managing funds on your own something that you would want to do long term, if not then does it help you get to what you want to do long term - ask them what will happen next year if you do well this year
