How to prepare to start at a MM HF

Signed the offer at a large MM HF (L/S equity), didn’t think I’d make it this far.

Any advice on how to prepare before hitting the desk? Books to read, things to focus on, general tips? Thanks

Probably not much to do, your job is to crank models out and generate ideas - reading more books won’t help with that and at this point it’s unlikely more modeling practice will help. Just try to rest up and be ready to start grinding, typical cadence is a ramp a week, maybe slightly faster if the team hasn’t launched yet and is building infra. If you know your coverage you can do some background reading on the companies (filings/calls) so you can shrink some of those ramps, but not necessary

yeah bring a value-based long-term hold rec to your pod shop pm, they’ll love it

and if they don’t, you should tell them to read it and get back to you!

One would think the 2 take away concepts from that dated book would be known to someone who broke in.
