How would you prepare for a hedge fund internship when you have no relevant experience?

Hello,

I've recently secured a hedge fund internship for Summer 2019. The only issue is, I have never done an internship before and am not sure what skills I will need in order to be successful (secure a full time offer).

I've seen the Linkedin profiles of people that have gone through this same internship, some of them have done BB IB Internships, PE Internships, etc...

What can I start learning now that will help set me apart/get me the full time offer?

in that case they would probably have some sort of a training program for interns as they have at banks. But reading and learning more about the fund's investment philosophy would help a lot. Other than that wouldn't hurt to work on your modeling skills. Also if you try to work on dcfs/comps on your own then that would help you learn about those methods better too. You could also try to make your own pitches if you want and have the time to do it. sorry I've personally never done a structured internship so this is all I can offer

1) find what you are interested in, in the investing universe (global macro, single company analysis, stat arb, pattern recognition, etc...) 2) read everything you can about that thing...EVERYTHING.

There is enough material about almost every investment topic that you can spend the next year reading, and still not make a dent.

Also, learn to program in Python. Start with this free beginner course on youtube (its pretty good) and then learn more.

just google it...you're welcome
