Information on Hound Partners?

Was wondering if anyone on this forum has any familiarity with the NYC based hedge fund Hound Partners. A few friends of friends work there, but before I reached out to anyone directly I figured I'd ask around here. Specifically looking for insight into their reputation/performance, any data points would be quite helpful.

Performance at Hound isn't great recently I believe, tons of II articles about them losing AUM over the past 3 years. Despite that it looks like they have been hiring junior analysts out of IB almost yearly though this could be because others are jumping ship. Also just skimming their 13-F it looks like they have ~25% of their book in VOO, IWM, and other ETFs. Seems strange unless I'm reading that wrong.

Not to mention someone either has a good sense of humor or wants to be a diamond hands gorilla with all the GME options listed. Outside of the ETFs, also lots of "safe bet" like big positions in Alphabet, Alibaba, Facebook, Microsoft, etc.
