Infrastructure/support for Quant pods in MM platforms

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew the amount of infrastructure/support that is typically available for quant/systematic PM/pods in MM platforms (millennium, citadel, cubist etc).

I’ve heard its quite bare bones - as in “you just get computers and are expected to build up from there”. I would expected that there would be some firm wide support in market data/broker connection or executions - seems a bit inefficient for every team to build everything out themselves. Also, if each pod had to maintain their full research/data/execution stack, seems difficult to focus on the alpha and compete with the more streamlined quant funds (Squarepoint, Qube, Worldquant - yup part of Millennium, but basically at a own fund scale).

Would love to hear some input on this, thanks.
