Is it normal to take a few weeks to think about a HF offer?
Got an offer a few days ago from a HF but they never said how long I had to decide. What is the industry standard?

why do you need a few weeks
In some other processes
More than a few days is going to likely get the firm to question whether or not to pull the offer. Best approach would’ve been to tell the other firms you will likely have an offer soon to speed things up. At this point you probably need to get back to them with a yes or they’ll rescind.
It’s not pretty but I guess you could reneg on the offer if you get something better but that’s a last resort imo
If you take a few weeks it will be obvious to them you're shopping around somewhere else. There's decent risk they pull the offer.
I'd say if anything let them know you loved them but are trying to wrap up another process, see if they give you the time.
But staying quiet and hoping their offer stands forever is the worst possible choice.
if you tell them you're trying to wrap up another process, it's the same as telling them you're shopping around? either way, they'll know... so curious why this way of communication is better / less likely to have offer pulled?
If you do the former, you can say something like "I loved you guys, but feel I owe it to myself to explore all open processes to make sure I'm assessing all the options. Please let me know if this conflicts with the timeline you had in mind, I should be done in 10 days".
They don't love to hear it, but at least you're reminding them you like them and there's a chance you accept, and you're showing you're sensitive to the fact you're keeping them waiting. Which shows maturity. Both are much better than outright ghosting them.
No
No, they will pull it if you take that long. Did you make them aware you're involved in other processes? How do those roles compare to this one?
Generally you should never take more than a week to decide (unless you're like a PM obv).
