Junior associate, how to pick a stock
Hey, just wonder what are some of the approaches or frameworks you search for a target stock within a sector? For example, if my portfolio manager asks to pick a mid-cap biotech company, how do I narrow down or screen companies?
Thanks for the input.
Hi Prospect in PE - LBOs, any of these discussions helpful:
More suggestions...
Hope that helps.
Either screen or look for some interesting event or sell off
Then how to screen, just like narrowing down from a large pool? what is the most efficient way? Thanks.
that is the literal definition of running a screen dude
I thought there would be some fancy approaches like consultants' always saying a structured framework.
How often do you guys just talk to many sellside analysts to pick up ideas?
investing isn’t mechanical. if u think it’s mechanical and it’s some easy process, ur in for a rude awakening lol. u specialize in a sector. u know this sector well. after a few years (sell side + buyside) of covering this sector, u start to pick longs and shorts. no ones giving secret sauce on this site.
no sell side isn’t very helpful. if they were great investors they’d be in an hf seat. use sell side once u source an idea
Thanks. Very helpful.
