Math/Stats Major?
I’m a junior at a nontarget and want to work at a l/s discretionary Hf eventually. Will it be worth it if I stay at school for an extra year and get another major in math?

moneymachine12, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:
You're welcome.
yes...more math education is always better
yes. You can thank me in 5 years time.
0.5 years and counting on what you said is true In tech m&a right now, really don’t see how the math major will help in my career trajectory
OP said l/s hedge fund not m&a. Two vastly different fields. If you end up transitioning you will definitely find it useful; not to mention if you ever go back to get a masters in stats/compsci
More input please
How much math have you taken? After Calc 3/Linear math gets way harder, so I would not declare it before you try a harder math course and do well in it (or not).
I took Calc 1. I currently have a minor in computational math but my school has a shitty math department so I’ll most likely 4.0 the other classes
Edit: I’m taking the first Computational math class and I learned what the equations are and what they do, but not how to solve them. I plan on taking more more statistics and probably calc 2 so far.
