PIMCO is unique. Real money (institutional) but nimble and smart like more traditional fast money hedge funds, tends to go deep in situations and often drives process by virtue of sizing. New PM is ex-KKR and has a track record. Phenomenal place to be in the distressed/special situations space. Study up.
Thank you for your insight
why did this get shit
beats me lol
Anyone have any more info?? Got the offer and looking to learn more about it
Do you have other offers and is credit a facet of finance which piques your interest? If so, then I'd imagine someone of your caliber who received the offer would also be evaluating, speculatively of course, roles in restructuring banking at places like evercore or laz, or other funds which are maybe only focused on credit / special sits. But I could be way off base so correct me if I'm wrong

Look up one of their investor presentation online. Really solid return and decent fund size.
Thank you, appreciate it. I'm having trouble finding them, any way you could PM me or post the link in this thread?
Pimco is Suberb for its size in fixed income. Very interesting contrarian strategy as they’ve been investing heavily in aircraft leasing, retail real estate and offshore drilling during the covid crisis
Don't know about this sector specifically but they have a very deep research bench and take a quite proactive approach to management that allows them to pick winners in essentially all fixed income asset classes anywhere in the world. It's like the opposite of passive equity investing. They have essentially created their own internal rating agency and use it to compare to the standards (Moody, S/P) and come away with lots of alpha plays. Have for a long time. Even their StockPlus series (equity - small but successful) is about outperforming the index while taking less risk. In this strategy they blend s/p 500 indexing with their award winning FI strategies to find some alpha resulting in greater than index returns with a .90 Beta - so higher return with less risk.
Lots of resources to make this happen.
PIMCO's Special Sits is a small part of their alternatives division but is growing fast. It's only the second year they're accepting undergrads into the team directly on a PM track. They do very interesting stuff, more mezzanine and preferred growth style than distressed, into music royalties, litigation firms, EV companies, and anything they can get their hands on. Makes sense as alts are more important given low yields. Hours are intense but comp is in line with credit arms at MFs and work is interesting.

How much is "in line with credit arms at MFs" - 200k for first years? Disregard the VP title, I'm just an analyst doing off cycle LMAO
Anyone have updated views on PIMCO's special sits team (performance, AUM, etc)?
