PM of a large AM doesn't know what a stock pitch is?

I had an informational interview/ formal interview hybrid with a former equities PM of a large AM, for a SA position. Asked her if she wanted me to pitch her a stock (since everything was going very basic), she said 'No no no, interns aren't allowed to pick stocks at this firm'. I thought she had misunderstood smtg, so went back and forth, only to realize she truly didn't know what a stock pitch is. In the end she thought I wanted to write her an ER report (since I last interned in ER).

Was so confused why a bloody PM wouldn't know smtg so basic, so I relayed this experience with my therapist and he 'scolded' me for assuming anything is 'very basic knowledge'. Idk what to think about this.

Wonder how the pitches work between the analysts and the PMs in that firm then

In some places you have former private bankers acting like portfolio managers. So not to be taken for granted that everyone knows what a stock pitch is. If she is supposed to be your mentor/guide/superior during the internship, make sure it's worth working for her.

Had a spontaneous laugh at the "told to my therapist" part. Maybe even he/she knows what a stock pitch is.
