Resume Help - Buy Side Credit
Background: I spent 1.5 years doing M&A IB and have now spent 1.5 years on the buy side in a liquid credit seat. My resume has been updated for a while to reflect my current role but I never made significant changes and explicitly listed out all my deal experience (even for IB). Is breaking out deal experience a good idea for both of my first two roles? And especially for the credit role, because I do liquid credit I have worked on a bunch of deals.... If I am trying to move to a capital solutions or stressed/opportunistic credit HF perhaps I should only listed out the more stressed credits I've worked on and can speak to? And for each deal that you list, do you write out specifics on responsibilities and what you did or just a bit of info on the company? Also does this all really matter or when HHs flash my resume to these places will they instantly know what I do and then we can just talk about deals face to face...? Does this stuff even matter? Currently I have a few interesting opportunities HHs reached out about but am delaying sending resume because maybe they look at it and think "oh this person just does performing credit" when really I've worked on stuff trading in the 60s-80s and am better versed in stressed stuff than they may assume. I could also just state in my resume that I look at stuff in the secondary opportunistically I guess. Sorry for the long blurb. TLDR: looking for advice on how to position myself best for buy side credit roles coming from a buy side credit role. Thank you all!!!
