Struggling as a sophomore (Math @ MIT)

Like the title says, I'm struggling in interviews despite having previous experience in L/S. Wondering where my problem is--do I need to major in Econ or talk more like a finance bro?

#1 identify where the issue is during interviews - is it technicals, is it being able to talk about experience, or is it fit questions

#2 be able to explain your past experience (or technicals) inside out - nobody expects you to know much as a sophomore but be honest about what you did.. don’t say you generated alpha during an internship or built a super complex model/put a name in the book.. likely not believable. And if you did then better be able to answer any question about it.

#3 practice, practice, practice - practice until the point you can do a good interview even if someone woke you up in the middle of the night. Many people can do a good case, but not many can present well. Understand technicals well.. some people can be superficial on technicals and can’t think critically if asked a variation of questions outside of a guide.

Don’t need to major in econ just for the sake of it (I majored in math and have met many people who did math in college too). And definitely don’t try to force a fake persona.. use appropriate jargon when necessary
