I grew up a huge Seattle Sonics fan and was despondent when I found out that Clay Bennett was moving the team to Oklahoma City. But earlier this year I was delighted to learn that a hedge fund manager by the name of Chris Hansen of Valiant Capital is seriously planning on building a new stadium in the Seattle area which will likely put a new NBA team back in the emerald city.
I tried to dig up some info on Chris Hansen and Valiant capital but the only things I could find were some articles and wikipedia pages related to the Sonics.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how much money they manage, what kinds of strategies they have and what Chris Hansen's background is.
Don't work for Chris Hansen. It's a trap. A bunch of cameramen will jump out of dark corners.

Tiger cub. Multi-strat. Look at anything globally. Managed around $3bn at the end of 2011. You won't find much info about them online.

Annoying tech investors but love them and Chris is a smart dude. Not sure how much they have under management now but equity port looks like about 1b.
Does anyone know how they recruit for analysts/associates or which head hunters they use? Asking from the perspective of someone in his second year of IB.
It's a pretty small team. I'm not sure they have any type of regular or active recruiting program. I'd also expect that they hire from their existing network versus ever using a headhunter.
they use HHs and do actively recruit analysts (from banking, etc.). most junior hires are in a 2 yr program, similar to banking.
My information may be dated. I know 2 people that work/worked there and this wasn't the case a couple of years ago. Please disregard what I said above...

Maybe. I would say keep in mind that fund started in early '08, so 2-3 years ago they may have been less institutionalized (i.e. no HHs, etc.). In any case my info is from a friend who currently works there / the recruiter they use.
