Wellington Management - Hedge Fund
I understand Wellington has a growing alternatives presence especially in Long/Short and even growth equity. Wondering if people know more about it and how it compares to its traditional LO presence as well as other more prominent and well-regarded Long/Short hedge funds in the industry?

I know little about their L/S effort, but generally these things don't work within a mostly LO firm.
You can't pay the HF side of the business at competitive HF levels without raising jealousy in the LO ranks. Ultimately, if there are any star performers in the HF business, they will jump ship to a real HF where they will get better economics and less bureaucracy.
