What kind of modeling do you do in a fundamental L/S role?

I'm currently interviewing for a role that is both L/S technology investing and growth equity investing. I know how to do the growth equity modeling because I come from an LBO PE background. But I don't know what kind of modeling you do when evaluating public companies. Can anyone describe? Is this DCF? Thanks.
