When is it too early to leave your job?

Title is clear.

I joined a role 10months ago in buyside where I feel ok but I’ve received an offer from a top pod that basically double my salary.

I was wondering, how bad of a signal is it to leave 10months after start ?

I don't see a problem with it. Worst case, ask to start a few weeks later if possible.

How did they double your salary? Total comp or base? Could you expand more on YOE? Because from my understanding base salaries are pretty standard at pods?

Leaving after 10 months can raise some eyebrows, especially if it’s within a short timeframe after starting a new role. While it’s not an automatic deal-breaker, it could signal to some that you’re not fully committed or that you struggle with long-term career decisions. However, if the new opportunity offers significantly better compensation, growth potential, and aligns more with your goals, it can be seen as a strategic career move.

To mitigate any potential concerns, it’s important to frame the transition positively. Be clear about how the new role fits your long-term aspirations and why it’s the right step for your development. Also, ensure that you leave on good terms with your current firm to maintain a positive reputation.
