Which experiences and skills are useful to secure an internship at a hedge fund?

Hello everybody!!
I am a second year undergraduate currently studying Mathematics with Finance.
I'm wondering whether anyone here got the chance of having an internship in a hedge fund and which kinds of skills (mostly quantitative or others like interpersonal, etc.) are those hedge fund need the most? Also do you need any previous relevant experience in the finance sector and so, is it like insight days or insight programs like for investment banking?
Cheers!!

Thank you for your reply! Very useful!! I know a bit of valuation but very simple models like CAPM or DDM! So in terms of formal training, investment banks should have them while hedge funds not, right? Any other differences in the application process between investment banks and hedge funds?

I have experience at a fundamental long only shop and I would say that important skills are being able to write well, articulate your ideas, and a genuine passion for investing. Also have an opinion about whats going on in the markets and be able to back it with facts. The rest they will teach you on the job.
