does trading really work?

Now value investing obviously work and this is the way to go however i have been wondering can you actually make money off of trading like FX,stocks, commodities etc.. because whenever i try to research about this topic i always either find scammers trying to sell me a course or people saying it will never work because “95% of traders lose” i am willing to learn the fundamentals and start from the ground up if someone has experience in this matter please give your input. Also any books you recommend about learning?

I'm sure there are some discretionary solo/retail traders out there who win. Personal experience tells me there's a lot who lose. Personally I've been at it (forex trading) a while and I do not win consistently lol. I treat it as gambling because it's fun but I expect no money from it.

There are people who sell good courses I believe but counterintuitively, generally the bigger someone's course is, the more likely it is to be a scam or not very good. Look for people who aren't bragging about $ amounts.
