How is Reuters still 100% free?

I'm a student and recently started to follow buisness, finance and economics news and after some research on news sources most of them were paid which i cant afford as a student so I searched for some free news sources one of which was Reuters but on further research i came across news articles from 2021 that there was going to be a paywall on Reuters which didn't happen? Can someone please shed some light on this whether Reuters is a reliable news source and is indeed 100% free.

Also i would appreciate if you can recommend some more free reliable news sources
