Where to invest $100k?

I know what you’re thinking “‘not another where to invest post” but here it goes….

I am in my mid 20s and given my living situation/jobs in college, I’ve been able to save around $100k so far. Problem is, most of it is in cash now and I need to invest or else inflation is going to eat it up.

I’ve got a stable job and very low living expenses in a high CoL city, very lucky here. My parents are immigrants and never invested in their lives, so I’m unsure of how to go about investing a sum of money this large. ETFs seem to be the best route, and I’ve invested in individual equities (some did well ok, some did not… such is life). However, my question is more of allocation and resources available to me. Is it worth it to look for a financial advisor this young or am I better off just DCA into SPY or some other ETF

Curious to hear what WSO would do if you were in my position.

Thanks fellow primates!

Assuming your goal is not to take exorbitant risks for a potential near term payoff (but possible serious losses), and assuming you don't have either the skills/desire/time to be actively researching and picking stocks, I'd recommend just doing something along the lines of SPY and Vanguard total stock market index and letting it sit for decades. Ideally open a Roth IRA so you don't have to pay taxes on all of it as well; I max out my Roth first every year.

You could also throw some QQQ in there or something if you want a bit more exposure to tech, but up to you.
