Barclays power
Underrated comment — if you know, you know
Funniest shit ever. Probably wouldn't fly today though. He's a VP at Carlyle now.
welcome to the jungle :)
How so
Barclays has a pretty fratty culture on average within IB (interned there)
Have heard Gugg in this discussion before
Everyone I met at Gugg was super serious and reserved. Just my experience.
This ain’t it
All the common suspects, Blair, Baird, Gugg, Some groups at jef, and Barclays
Any O&G team is automatically fratty
Yeee-BITDA
Most groups at Jeff besides a few & Barclays,
Bear Stearns RIP
Heard that Dyal & Co. is very fratty
Heard you have to shotgun a beer at the Lincoln Superday
Wells Fargo has a very fratty culture, esp Houston and NY
Wells Fargo people were super fun when I met them (NY team). Charlotte too, though my sample size there was far smaller.
Some banks I think the larger ones tend to have more women becuase they have quotas (I remember going to a meeting at Macquarie once and was amazed at 2 women on a 8 person team) - honestly a good thing imo because the "fratty" culture can easily turn into a douchey culture with tons of facetime in my experience if you just have all dudes.
Very true
Stephens is basically an Ole Miss/Vanderbilt type frat house
Nah, only the scrubs went there
Lincoln for sure
KBW if you're into FIG
CS LA
how so?
Absolutely Barclays out of the BB in NYC.
Truist TMT lol.
Moelis LA gave me fratty vibes
Surprised no one has mentioned Citi yet. Culture might have changed post-covid, but from the 6 guys I knew in UG that when there all mentioned it is a very fratty environment.
We talking East Coast or West Coast fratty? Midwest or Southern? Lot's of variables here.
But, generally, anything touching Industrials or O&G is going to be up there.
What's the difference?
I've been out of the game for a while now, so maybe there's some more homogeny with the TikToks and the doodads, but East Coast (read: Northeast) was heavily influenced by the New England prep school world whereas the West Coast guys were laid back Cali types. Just two different ways of getting to the same thing - partying and having fun in college.
Canaccord.
Oath mate
Can confirm Lincoln has a fun drinking culture. I did my SA tenure there, and we had multiple corporate-sponsored open bar events where AN-MDs were hammered
Eastdil Secured
Jmp / citizens. Roommate went out 3x a week with coworkers
Just curious, why is Barclays being listed so much? I thought it's supposed to be one of the BBs with the friendliest cultures.
Fratty generally equals friendly. Means less hardo/serious and more chatty/social with coworkers in my experience
RayJay, just gonna leave this here: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/employee-represented-by-clouse…
Barclays ... so cringe
Fifth Third, my cousin’s friend’s girlfriend said those guys are animals
Relatively unknown LMM group
Growing out of LMM to strong MM with many deals in $100-500m. Not without growing pains (certain groups) exacerbated by a choppy year. Definitely one of the Top banks to be at culturally and for a good junior experience.
SVB Leerink (now SVB Securities), could immediately tell from back when I had my SD there
Lincoln and Greenhill
