13' grad job mkt, what's the outlook?
Hi all,
I know it's a bit early, but I have been keeping an eye on those bb's job posts and some do starts their 2013 batch. Yet, the number of openings hv decreased significantly across the board. Is equity and credit markets in general doing well this summer? I hear DCM especially good. Any insight for that or its just too early (I believe they close during oct)? Would be appreciated if you can break down to regional level, I.e US, UK,Asia
Thanks!
From what I've seen at my bank (US) is that overall FT needs are lower and a lot of SA's will be filling up those spots, making it more difficult for those taking the OCR route. DCM is doing quite well given low rates...also a function of the tail end of the refinancing cliff for companies in 2007-08 refinancing some revolving/term facilities.
Thx, alpha. No doubt demand will shrink, but I was wondering why it seems worse than last year. ... Market outlook should not be dire currently.
Come back in August 2013 and someone might be able to give you an accurate answer.
LOL, dude, your post makes me believe that you ARE actually an ER material. No offence. XD
I think you mean '13 and not 13 feet
Banks are still recruiting, but as usual, most slots are filled by SA's. Accelerated recruiting has started already, and if you don't have an offer somewhere, you really ought to be trying to network and sneak into some of these (or into fulltime interviews).
Since you are 13 feet tall, you really wouldn't "fit in" in finance. I would look for other areas such as joining a circus or constructing skyscrapers by hand. You could also possibly be the best NBA player to ever live.
'13*
easier to break into the asian market if you are asian (i dont know if im being racist or biased)
a lot of my asian friends opted for asian offices because they think "its easier", and they got in to these offices, so maybe they are right?
