1st year associates - 2 questions

1) Can someone please confirm or deny witch banks have raised base salaries for starting 1st year associates. I have heard that DB did this last year, are there others?

What are the current starting salaries, and how did changes affect 2010 bonus numbers?

2) How do new associates pick groups (I'm not talking about the process, I mean what matters most to new hires). I assume modelling experience, and PE exit opps are less of a concern, so is it purely based on deal flow for most, or fit, or reputation?

No, it has been a tough year for the witch banks. Top bucket is just a newt, bottom bucket is a subscription to "Better Hats and Cauldrons"

LOL great reply.
