2 Weeks since MM Superday. Raise my hopes or crush them

I had a super day with a regional MM firm 2 weeks ago. I was told that I should expect to hear 2-3 weeks from now. I understand that most offers are sent out days, if not hours after the conclusion of the super day.

I was told that they were currently experiencing heavy deal flows at the time of the interview. Could that explain why I haven't heard back yet?

Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

I was told that they are still reviewing all the candidates. Would you happen to know whether that means they are interviewing more people or that they are still deliberating on who to give offers from that super day?

You're almost certainly an alternate (and offers have likely already gone out to the top candidates). In my experience, let's say 8 people interview in a given superday - will give out 1 or 2 offers usually same day (or very soon after), with most people rejected, and maybe 1 or 2 on hold. Unfortunately, most of the time on hold turns into a rejection.

Thanks for your input. If they are a lean team and am told that they are still reviewing candidates (was told this recently), is it at all possible that they are genuinely running behind sending out offers? I'm just not sure why they wouldn't tell me that I'm on the waiting list.

They won't ever confirm you're the waiting list because they don't ever want you to feel like you're on the waiting list.

There is absolutely no harm in reaching out again and, if this is true, expressing that they are your top choice and you are very excited at the potential to work on their team, etc. If it ends up going to an alternate (i.e. the candidate they extended an offer to says "no" after getting a different offer), the next person down is usually the hungriest / highest likelihood to sign. Be that guy/gal.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

This has happened to my multiple times (not just IB). For IB, I would say as a rule of thumb, 24-72 hours is the timeframe for receiving an offer and anytime after that, you are on hold with the very low probability of getting off the waitlist.

I remember how after every IB interview I would nervously check email and phone frantically (which is impossible to avoid doing), but after a week of not hearing back, I would follow-up and then move on for other processes.

Keep grinding away with other roles and I am sure things will work out.
