2 years later (I finally got the offer!)

I have been working for a little over 2 years now, spanning across 4 companies. Always knew I wanted to do IB/M&A/Corp Fin work but I graduated in the COVID economy and I wasn't exactly spoiled with choices. Was content with just having a job initially, starting at a back office position in a commercial bank that I hated, slowly pivoting step by step to investment research, then valuation and now strategy, just to get closer to M&A positions. Hundreds of applications and coffee chats, countless interviews later (I did 24 interviews just last year), many rejections, being ghosted over and over, I felt so tired and disheartened and I even made a post here venting and even briefly thought of giving up...

I have nothing motivating to say but I would just like to announce that I just signed an offer for a listed company's corp fin team and I will doing M&A work focused in the renewable sector. Couldn't have done it without WSO, without all the comments pushing me to keep going on and all the posts of like-minded individuals sharing their experiences.

All the nights of grinding after work, all the weekends of staying in practicing and preparing for interviews while all my peers are out having fun. I feel bittersweet now, my ex constantly pushed me to be better and made me dare to dream big and aim high.....she changed my life fr and i owe her for that but she isn't here to see it anymore, it wasn't meant to be but I appreciate her a lot.
