2 years of work experience, is it enough to be an associate
I got admitted to Duke, Yale and Darden... probably will go at Yale.
I have only 2 years of work experience in public auditing. I wonder whether I will be able to make it in recruiting since all banks it seems require 3-5 years of work experience.
Have you ever seen an associate with less than 3 years of experience, especially, with full-time experience outside of banking?
Would you suggest to aim for smaller firms in my case?
Also, are there any firms that hire only associates (have no analysts program)
Thanks!
Associates are worthless. You can be an associate with 2 years experience as a ski instructor for all they care as long as you spin it into teamwork and positive attitude and come out of a good business school - which those all are.
Honestly - people usually get 3-5 years of work experience because it's the business schools that require it, not the banks. Having gotten into said business schools with only 2 years (congrats on that by the way), you're fine.
how'd you get into those B-schools with 2 years of work experience? (serious question)
I started a non-profit while working, which also involved convincing the President of my College that it was a good idea. Now students can participate in this non-profit as part of the school curriculum.
Makes sense now. Props to you!
I have seen an associate who went straight to MBA from undergrad.
