2026 FT Recruiting Options

I'm looking to get a full-time position in NYC. I don't know my chances stand. I'm a rising senior, go to a target school, have 3.9+ GPA, have had investment banking internships, and my technicals are great.

My main disadvantage is that for both sophomore and junior summers (i.e. now), I have interned at the same firm (a lower middle-market regional boutique). The firm I am interning at right now is not hiring for full-time.

Given my profile, what options would I be able to explore? Would BB's or EB's in NYC be a likely plan? Or should I look for other lower middle markets or something totally different? If so, how? Any help would be appreciated!

You'll be fine for most EB/BB opportunities as long as you've networked through the spring already. I did debt syndication at a random balance sheet bank junior summer, came from a target school, and had a lower GPA than you (albeit one of my majors is STEM), and got interviews across a bunch of EB/BB this past FT cycle.

Hi This is very helpful. I would like to ask some more questions about your full time recruiting strategy. Will it be ok if I PM you?

I haven't heavily networked through the spring but have kept in touch with some contacts at BBs/EBs. The issue is that most people I talked to said their group is not hiring for analyst level positions. Is it just a numbers game at this point? What was your strategy heading into FT recruitment?

They won't know if they'll be hiring FT until later in the summer. Reach out to them mid-summer, then again at the end of the summer, continuing to express your interest in any FT processes they might run.

I networked extensively during the spring because I never initially went through the traditional SA IB recruiting process. I reached out again to my best connects mid-summer, expressing my interest formally in any FT openings they might have. At the end of the summer, after I got my return offer from my internship, I reached out again to see if they'd be running a FT process.
