2.5 year ASO --> VP promo possible?

I know standard is generally 2-3 years for analyst to ASO (maybe 2 is more common now), but has anyone seen accelerated promotions from associate to VP? Would appreciate any color i.e. BB vs. EB vs. MM (no LMM / smaller boutiques since those are less standarized), candidate background, etc.

Particularly interested in Canada since I'm in toronto but all geographies helpful

My firm goes like:

A to A is the standard 2 but then 2 years after to get Senior Associate then 2/3 more years to get to VP

someone in my group did it in 3 years instead of 4, but he was a real standout
