Accidentally called GS “Goldman Stanley” in a coffee chat

A bit of background, there is this guy on Instagram who makes memes acting like a banker with videos like resume reviews, intern conversion, etc. and in pretty much every video he mentions he’s a “Goldman Stanley TMT Senior Associate.” I get this guy on my reels a lot and my friends send each other vids by him.
A few months ago I reached out to a GS associate who went to my school and ended up getting a coffee chat with him on a video call. Went through the basics (talking about our backgrounds, same school etc.) and I asked eventually him why he chose the group he’s in at “Goldman Stanley” over offers he had at other banks.
I caught myself and hoped he didn’t notice but quickly corrected myself when I saw him make a face. There was definitely a vibe shift and he looked almost annoyed, but still answered the question. We chatted for a few minutes after that but it was clear that I fucked up and he ended up leaving the call with some weak excuse despite only chatting for 15 mins.
Not my first time fucking up a coffee chat but probably the funniest way I’ve done so. Moral of the story don’t waste time on Instagram reels.
