Adding an Alum Recruiter at a BB on LinkedIn

Hi, I'm a freshman from a non-target with BB aspirations. I've just accepted an internship at a local boutique so I think I'm on track as far as experience requirements. I want to start to strategize for BBs early-on however. I saw on LinkedIn that there are recruiter(s) that work for BBs that are alums from my school. I applied to some 2-3 day early insight programs but I want to increase my chances of getting an interview. How, if at all would you monkeys recommend reaching out to recruiters to network and get info.

I would definitely reach out; what is there to lose? You can approach it as asking about the bank in general, about the process, etc. Trick is to ask smart questions, especially if you are talking to a recruiter, your questions will be a bit different. Write up a well-crafted email and shoot it off. 5-6 sentences, to the point, but respectful. Go for it.

Also, not sure why you would do LinkedIn and not just shoot them an email...usually you can find their emails on your schools alumni directory or, if not, most banks have a super simple email format.

Agreed, might as well try and when you do, don’t overthink it. To be fair a lot of nontargets don’t have the email databases as well built out (could be wrong just my experience between me and my friends in that position) but email formats are relatively easy to find if there isn’t a middle initial involved
