Advice For Incoming Non-Target College Freshman
Hello, first-time poster here.
The college admissions process did not go as I wanted, and I will be attending Ohio State next year. Can anyone give me advice on how to best position myself to break into IB, specifically if you are an OSU alumni or come from a similar background? Thank you!
Get a 4.0, join the most selective investment clubs, do some impressive volunteering, school year internships, build connections with professors and transfer to a target.
It’s a win-win because you’ll be at a target for recruiting with a solid resume from your freshman year. It might suck at first but trust the process.
Second the above. Also, 'alumni' is plural.
transfer
The college process is not over if you got on the waitlist at a few places. Stay in touch with your admissions officers to give them updates and show your continued interest, but try not to annoy them. If you get lucky, they might remember you and get you off the list. It's very rare, but it could happen, especially with the uncertainty caused by the pandemic right now. If it doesn't work out, that's also fine. Follow the other advice on this thread and things will work out.
