Advice Needed, Finance in Texas?

I'm a college student at a non-target, I got an IB internship lined up this summer at a top firm in NYC and I'm excited about it. However, I've been less convinced recently about moving to NYC post-grad and have been missing Texas. I've been thinking about recruiting for an FT position there but I'm not too sure of my options. I'm not interested in energy or really Houston as a city so that crosses out a lot of options. Would it be stupid to throw away an analyst stint in NYC (assuming I get return)? What options do I have as far as firms (would do PE or IB)? Because of my background am I even in a position to recruit for FT (being non-target)? I would appreciate any advice for people who have gone through this in the past or who have done finance in Texas. Thank you for the help.
