Advice on reaching out to hiring managers
I attend a university with a co-op program. Essentially, students spend 2-3 separate semesters working full time throughout the 4-5 years in school. Typically a student's first co-op is quite basic as most students have no prior experience in their target industries. I recently secured my first co-op in the ~Finance sector that will run July to December 2021. I am already working to network and set up opportunities for my next co-op which will most likely run July - December 2022 and would love some advice on how to reach out to employers.
Because I have access to my schools job database even after accepting my position, I can still look at new postings for this upcoming fall. Most companies involved in our program hire co-ops every cycle and therefore jobs that are posted for this year will most likely be posted again next time around.
I am starting to read and gain knowledge about the IB industry and a new co-op was just posted in the Tech M&A space on my university's job portal. I would like to reach out and express my interest in this position to build a connection with this employer and also gain some insight into what I can do between now and next year to set myself apart. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to approach reaching out to the contact in a way that seems genuine?
