Advice Please, what should I look for

Hi I have a 6 week internship at Barclays Plc as a freshman in information risk management, so back office stuff. At this point I think its a good opportunity, but not really what I am interested in. I am interested in equity and investing. So would Barclays wealth be possible or barclays capital? and what should I ask for?

Private wealth management? mergers and acquisitions? I don't know what else

Why would you be so entitled to ask for something other than what offer you received? You're a freshman.

Do your job, do it well, and you'll be in better shape to apply for other things next year. End of discussion.

Seems to be the "I want to make money" type. Since I haven't slept, I'm going to be an ashole to you. You have a fcking middle office internship at a BB as a freshman. STFU, and thank god you can put this on your resume at this point in your college career.

If you're interested in equity and investing, try and get a job that... gasp ... has to do with equity and investing. With a little help from this web site called "Google" you can insert search parameters and, from WHAT I HEAR, it will spit out results that match your query.

You want to do equity and investing, get used to doing your due diligence and research.

  1. I'm not the I want to make money type, I want to have a career I enjoy.
  2. I lucked out with this internship, and its information risk so it is back office. At this point I have the opportunity to do other things so I am looking for advice.
  3. Thanks for you opinions, but there is no need to judge. I posted here looking for advice. I am interested in hedge funds and investing because I enjoy it. I like the risk involved and the industry. If this is a really good internship for a freshman even though it is back office then so be it, that is the question I am asking
