After IB: Any Advice?

TLDR: How to find unconventional exit opps?

I am one year into my analyst stint in a well-respected group on the street and hate my life. The thought of doing this for another 12 months is depressing, so I am looking for some advice. I do not have an exit opp and am not sure if I will try and leave early or stick it out. I have lurked WSO for awhile so I know this will be hit or miss.

The majority of people in IB are risk adverse and I do not want to follow the typical path. The "prestige", "learning opportunities", "resume building", and whatever else people say to convince themselves that MF PE is the logical next step is unconvincing.

Is there any advice people can offer me for pursuing unconventional paths from a group that almost all analysts leaving have gone on to MF PE?
