AI for PowerPoint?

Are there any good AI tools for generating slides that people actually use? Surprised that Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude etc. are all terrible for PPT. Feel like making slides is actually one of the problems that AI can solve for IBD, but OpenAI etc. seem to be trying to solve modelling instead. And I don't think anyone would trust a ChatGPT DCF...

Based on the most helpful WSO content, AI tools for PowerPoint are still evolving, but there are a few options that professionals in finance and consulting have started exploring. While tools like ChatGPT and Claude are not yet optimized for creating polished, professional slides, there are some AI-driven solutions that can assist with slide generation and formatting:

  1. Beautiful.ai: This tool is designed to help users create visually appealing slides quickly. It uses AI to suggest layouts and designs based on the content you input, making it a good option for those who want to streamline the design process.

  2. Tome.app: Known as a storytelling tool, Tome uses AI to generate slide decks based on prompts. While it’s not tailored specifically for IBD, it can be a starting point for creating structured presentations.

  3. Microsoft Copilot for PowerPoint: While still in its early stages, Microsoft’s AI Copilot is integrated into PowerPoint and can assist with tasks like summarizing content, suggesting layouts, and even generating slides from text. It’s worth keeping an eye on as it develops further.

  4. Canva Magic Design: Canva’s AI features, like Magic Design, can help create professional-looking slides with minimal effort. While it’s more design-focused, it can be useful for creating client-ready presentations.

  5. VBA Automation: For those in IBD, leveraging VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) can be a game-changer. As highlighted in WSO threads, VBA can automate repetitive tasks like aligning text, formatting charts, and applying consistent styles across slides.

While these tools can save time, they often require manual adjustments to meet the high standards of IBD presentations. As you mentioned, AI for modeling (like DCFs) is a different beast, and trust in AI-generated financial models is still low. For now, AI in PowerPoint is best used as a supplement to human expertise, not a replacement.
