Am I going to be considered too experienced for IB internship (London)?
I am a doctor with 2 years and 1 month of experience. I am a trainee surgeon in a large London hospital. I am also a academic lecturer at a medical school (I got this as a honor) and also subsequently getting a PGCert (in Medical Education) degree paid off by my hospital due to my academic role. I was appointed to national board for guiding medical training, again it was a honorary role and also elected to a board at a large hospital, which is more of a volunteer/honorary role again.
Due to my student status (PGCert - not sure if banks will even consider this as masters lol) at a university again. I was thinking of applying for IB internships.
I worked part time, only a few months for a few medical start-ups which raised a few million dollars but left due to my hospital work commitments.
Now, despite my junior level, I have a lot to talk about in my CV but given my profile do you think there is any point in me applying for IB or do you think I should try to do something else.
Tbh I just want to make money at this point and I’m tired of medicine.
Looking for some advice!
You can try. Banks hire MDs (doctors not Managing Directors) to work in their Pharma/Healthcare teams. You probably won't get looks beyond that though.
To be very honest Ive never seen a doctor on a summer internship tho. They usually come in FT.
